About The Project
Named after the designated Study Period at Winchester College, the founder’s Alma Mater, The Toye Room is a novel employee benefit and retention program, conducted in collaboration with Parco Enterprises Ltd. Nigeria. The project focuses on providing employee’s children with a dedicated study space, critical learning tools, and planning for a long-term loan program for qualifying employees. This loan program would be actioned toward further education costs for participating employees’ children in the hopes of establishing a long-term, self-sustaining employee benefit and retention program that would positively impact employee productivity, and benefit their children’s education prospects in both the short, and long term.
The Plan
The Toye Room began with The Plan, a detailed program pitch delivered to the managers at Parco Enterprises. This pitch detailed the operating costs, benefits, and program particulars of The Toye Room. In addition to this, The Plan also featured a detailed account of competitor programs at other Africa-based companies, and a marketing strategy plan.
The Place & The Pledge
Following the approval of The Plan, the founder of The Toye Room began the second stage of the project, The Place. The Place featured a classroom-like learning space, hosted at the Parco facilities featuring vital study resources such as stationary, second-hand computers and other learning support materials. Going hand-in-hand with The Place, attending students were required to take The Pledge — a learning motivation mechanism that had students commit to maintaining a 90% attendance rate for their Toye Room sessions, in addition to maintaining the same attendance rate at their respective schools. The successful adherence to this pledge would render these students eligible for the final leg of The Toye Room, The Program.
The Program
The last leg of The Toye Room, and one of its most impactful, involves an opt-in based long-term educational loan program. This, necessarily conducted in partnership with the managers at Parco, provided employees and their families with the option to avail of long-term, low-interest loans to further educate their children at local universities in a diversity of qualifying subjects. Opting into this program would, in addition to supporting the students’ college education, also provide participants with the guarantee of 4-years paid employment at Parco Enterprises Ltd. Nigeria upon completion of The Program. The overarching goal of the program is to empower local youth talent by enabling access to long-term provisions for university education and professional development. In addition to this, The Program also benefits its partner organization, Parco, by providing guaranteed skilled and trained employment for a fixed period of time.
